Police Warn of Threats Against Synagogues

Received from the Philadelphia Police Department.

The Philadelphia Police Department has been made aware of a number of mass emails and alleged bomb threats that have been sent to several synagogues and Jewish Institutions within our region [Tuesday, April 9]. We are working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Anti-Defamation League of Philadelphia on this situation. The investigation is ongoing.

Many of the messages include the following language –

“This is a message to EVERYONE. There are bombs planted inside of your Synagogue. The bombs are set to go off soon, when there are people inside of the Synagogue. Our mission is to leave as many people as possible in a pool of blood. This Attack is caused by an organization called Terrorizers111”.

Similar threats have been sent previously by this same “group” to courts, hospitals and other organizations throughout the United States in 2023 and early 2024. We are sending this to all faith-based organizations to make you aware in the event you receive any concerning communications.

As with any acts of vandalism or concerning activity, and/or if you or your institution has received or receives any threatening communications, please report it immediately to 911. We appreciate the efforts you’ve put into maintaining good security and the continued vigilance of your staff, congregants and volunteers.
