Rhawnhurst Turning Point will mark the grand opening of its new space at 7812 Castor Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 12 from noon to 2 pm — and you’re invited. There will be fun and food, a chance to tour the center, talk with volunteers and staff, hear about future plans, and more.
This new ministry, then at a temporary location, was highlighted in a video shown at our 2011 Synod Assembly (see link below).
Turning Point is a center for youth and young adult where they can learn, grow, serve, and have fun in a safe environment supported by caring volunteers and Christian staff. Birthed out of Redemption Lutheran and Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Churches, Turning Point has been over four years in the making. In that time, they have worked to create a place where youth and adults from local churches and from our community and beyond can come as they are, serve and be served, and work together to better their lives and the lives of those around them.
Rhawnhurst Turning Point offers a free Homework Help Center for youth in grades 6-12, and a free Drop-In Center for youth and young adults in grades 6 and up. There are plans for expanding into Arts, Music, and Service opportunities in the coming months.
