Resourceful Servants Unveils Emergency Savings/Congregational Financial Assessment Program
The ELCA’s Resourceful Servants Initiative promotes the financial wellness of congregations, rostered ministers and seminarians. For many rostered ministers, financial stress—frequently caused by personal financial challenges or by congregational or organizational financial challenges–stands in the way.
To support growth in both individual and organizational financial health, Resourceful Servants is launching the Emergency Savings/Congregational Financial Assessment Program. Through this program rostered ministers can meet with a certified financial counselor and build individual financial reserves by contributing to a dedicated savings account, to be matched over a two-year period through generous donations from the ELCA Mission Investment Fund and the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
This program also provides educational resources on a variety of healthy financial practices for your congregation or organization, and an assessment you can use to track your progress.
On August 11, 2023, rostered ministers currently under call will receive an email from Resourceful Servants informing them that the Qualification and Application period for the Emergency Savings/Congregational Financial Assessment program is open. The due date to qualify and apply is September 20, 2023.
