Nominations for 2019 Synod Council Elections

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod’s Nominating Committee is asking for your help in identifying gifted and qualified persons, both clergy and lay, to serve as nominees for election at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod Assembly on May 3-4, 2019

The deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 15.

Every year the Synod Assembly elects members of the Synod Council, which serves as “the board of directors of the synod” and “its interim legislative authority between meetings of the Synod Assembly.” The 2019 assembly will elect the following:

Synod Council positions:

  • Three Ministers of Word and Sacrament, terms ending 2022
  • One lay male representative from Delaware Conference, term ending 2022
  • One lay male representative from Northeast/Northwest Philadelphia Conference, term ending 2022
  • One lay female representative from Upper Montgomery Conference, term ending 2022
  • One lay female at large, term ending in 2022
  • One lay male at large, term ending in 2022
  • 1 Lay Male Young Adult Representative, term ending 2022
    (person between ages of 18 and 30 at time of election or appointment)
  • 1 Lay Female Young Adult Representative, term ending 2022
    (person between ages of 18 and 30 at time of election or appointment)
  • 1 Lay Male Youth Representative, term ending 2021
    (person not yet 18 years of age at time of election or appointment)
  • 1 Lay Female Youth Representative, term ending 2021
    (person not yet 18 years of age at time of election or appointment)

Synod Secretary

In addition to these positions, the Assembly will also be electing a Secretary for a term ending 2023.  According the Constitution, Bylaws and Continuing Resolutions of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod,

S9.06.              The Synod Council shall nominate at least one person for secretary only if there is an incumbent;       otherwise the Synod Council shall nominate at least two persons for secretary.  Additional nominations may be made from the floor.
