Many thanks to all who rode, volunteered and supported the 18th Annual Lutheran Charities Bike Ride on June 28, 2008. Bikers and volunteers from 40 Lutheran churches in the region took part in the annual event that benefits our social ministry agencies, sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
More than 100 bikers ages 2 to 77 cycled in the SteepleChase Ride on roads through scenic Montgomery County and the Fun Ride on the Schuylkill River Trail from Lower Perkiomen Valley Park. A Fun Walk was added on the trail for walkers, and some brought their dogs.
Volunteers from the agencies and Lutheran churches offered roadside support and handed out refreshments at rest stops. A delicious lunch was provided for bikers at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Square. BikeSport offered morning tune-ups to prepare riders for the road.
Lutheran agencies receiving proceeds from the Bike Ride include Artman Lutheran Home, KenCrest Centers, Lutheran Children & Family Service, Lutheran Settlement House, Manatawny Manor, Paul’s Run Retirement Community, and Silver Springs-Martin Luther School.
Mark your calendars for the 19th Annual Lutheran Charities Bike Ride on June 27, 2009, which will feature the SteepleChase, Fun Walk & Ride, and a summer festival celebration!
