Dear Congregational Council Leader,
Are you stepping into a leadership role in your congregation? Perhaps you’re serving on your Church Council and want a clearer sense of what that entails. Or maybe it’s your turn to guide your congregation as President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary. Whatever your role, we have an exciting opportunity just for you!
You are warmly invited to join us for a Gathering of Church Council Leaders on Saturday, February 22nd, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Reformation Lutheran Church, Philadelphia (1217 Vernon Road, Philadelphia, PA 19150). You will have a chance to hear from our Vice President, Tracey Beasley and I will be presenting as well. This event promises to be a morning of inspiration, connection, and equipping for the vital work you do in your congregation. A light breakfast will be provided, and we’ll conclude the gathering before lunch, so your Saturday plans can continue.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
This is a unique chance to deepen your connection with the Synod, strengthen your leadership skills, and build relationships with fellow leaders. We encourage you to mark your calendar and make plans to join us for this enriching morning.

This year our synod will also be electing a Synod Vice President at Synod Assembly. The Vice President serves as the highest lay leader in our Synod. After 3 consecutive terms, Ms Tracey Beasley will reach the end of her term limit. We thank her for her 12 years of leadership to the synod and look forward to discerning and electing a new synod VP.
Looking ahead, we are also planning additional gatherings tailored to specific Council roles, including focused sessions for Treasurers and Secretaries. Keep an eye out for more details on these upcoming opportunities.
We’re excited to see you on February 22nd and to partner with you as we grow together in faith and leadership. To update you Council Officers please complete this form: Congregation-Lay-Leadership-Form-2024
With hope and gratitude,
The Rev. Bryan Penman, Bishop
