Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shillington, PA is looking for a Director of Music Ministries/Organist to develop, implement and administer the music program, providing leadership and resources as the primary musician for our enthusiastic congregation.

Essential functions

• Manage, rehearse and participate in our weekly worship service and other special events as needed.
• Manage and rehearse weekly musical ensembles including, but not limited to, Senior Choir, Senior Bell Choir, Intergenerational Bell Choir and Children’s Choir.
• Recruit and train all participating congregational musicians from all age groups.
• Inspire groups with new ideas and resources.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and scheduled Worship & Music Committee meetings.
• May participate in ad hoc meetings for church events, activities and functions involving the health and welfare of the congregation.
• Prepare annual music program budget and manage expenses of the approved music budget, including purchase of music and music supplies.
• Maintain music library and supervise maintenance of all instruments (organ, pianos, electronic keyboard, handbells, etc.).
• Prepare bulletin updates with helpful info about liturgical seasons and programs, as well as a monthly newsletter article and submission for annual report.

Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Music, with an emphasis on church, organ and choral music. If interested in divided position, please contact us for revised education requirements.

Qualifications and experience

• Experience as a music director/organist in a church or similar setting preferred.
•  Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work well with people, especially in recruiting and training musicians.

Salary
Very competitive, based on experience and education, plus an annual stipend for continuing education.
