Followed by a light reception & celebration at the Episcopal Cathedral

Pastors, Deacons and Clergy of all traditions
are invited to vest and should arrive by 1:15 p.m.

Children are welcome in worship and invited to participate in the Procession and the Children’s Message.

The color of the day is red.

Choir

All are invited to share their gifts of music through the Synod-wide Mass Choir.

There will be four opportunities to rehearse:

  • Saturday, August 10th from 10am to noon Spirit and Truth Worship Center 1000 Church Lane, Yeadon, PA 19050
  • Saturday, August 24th from 10am to noon  Christ’s Lutheran Church700 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Oreland, PA 19075
  • Saturday, August 31st from 10am to noon Reformation Lutheran Church1215 Vernon Road, Philadelphia, PA 19150
  • Saturday, September 7th from 10am to noon Good Shepherd Lutheran Church132 East Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406

In addition, there will be a full choir rehearsal Saturday, September 14th at 10am at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral before the service at 2 p.m., with lunch served in between.

The choir will be directed by Ms. Carolyn Jackson of New Life Ministries in Philadelphia and Deacon Tom Snyder of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Phoenixville.

Transportation & Parking

We encourage people to utilize public transportation.

Public Transportation

Commuter trains as well as inter-city trains (Amtrak) all stop at 30th Street Station.

A taxi ride or rideshare from the station is about 8 blocks and typically costs less than $10.00.

Alternatively, the Green Line streetcar lines and Blue Line Subway can be taken from 30th and Market Streets station, outside of the railway station at the corner.

On the Blue Line Subway (“The El”), ride to 40th Street. At 40th and Market walk back (east) to 38th. The Cathedral is a half-block to your right.

On the Green Line (subway-surface) streetcar ride any line to 36th Street.

At 36th, walk one (1) block to 36th and Chestnut, then left (west) 2 blocks to 38th and Chestnut. The Cathedral is a half block to your right.

The Cathedral is located near the following bus routes: 21, 30, 40, 42 and LUCY Green and Gold Loops.

Directions

From Interstate 95 – I-95 – North

Take I-676 West, the Vine Street Expressway, and use the exit for 30th Street Station and Airport to the Market Street Exit. At the top of the exit, 30th Street Station is immediately in front of you. Turn right (west) and drive around the station to the second traffic light which is Market Street. Turn right and follow Market Street to 38th Street. At 38th Street turn left. The Cathedral is in the first block, east side of the street.

From Interstate 76 West – I-76 The Schuylkill Expressway

Take the Market Street Exit – 30th Street Station is immediately in front of you. Turn right (west) and drive around the station to the second traffic light which is Market Street. Turn right and follow Market Street to 38th Street. At 38th Street turn left and the Cathedral is in the first block on the east side of the street.

Parking At The Cathedral

On Saturdays there are many metered parking places near the Cathedral, especially on Chestnut, 38th, Ludlow, and Market Streets. Purchase parking time through the MeterUP App which may be downloaded to your mobile phone or through the curbside green kiosks. For more information on parking consult visitphilly website.

There are a number of nearby garages and lots, including these two:

  • LAZ parking, 3665 Market Street – entrance on the north side of Market. The lot is open 24/7 with sliding rates and discounted evening and weekend ($9 per day) rates.  Call LAZ parking at 215-823-7870 for more information.
  • Walnut 38 Park, 38th & Walnut Streets – entrance on the east side of 38th. This garage is open 7 days a week – 6:30am – midnight. $10 for the first hour + $2 each additional hour with early bird and evening rates. Call Penn Parking at 215-898-8667 for more information.
