Dear Rostered Leaders,
As we approach this election season, I invite the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod to join us and fellow faith leaders in Harrisburg on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Capitol for an interfaith press conference to present our joint statement, “Choices and Voices for Peace.” The intent of this joint statement is to call for peace in a time when the fraught political climate in our country is leading some people to choose violence and hate. Clergy are encouraged to bring lay members and wear clothing that identifies them as religious leaders, while avoiding any partisan symbols. Our goal is to emphasize our shared values of peace and respect for all people, regardless of political stance.
We wish to emphasize our shared respect for the dignity of all people and not press for any political or personal agenda under the guise of religion. By signing on to this statement (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeQn_hf6s6qemaPw18qx06b2BdcNSkuQw_h3_Vv5Vs9GrePxw/viewform) and attending the press conference at the Capitol, you will join religious leaders across Pennsylvania in embodying our shared commitment to justice, dignity, and the wellbeing of all. Together, we can be a visible sign of hope and healing for our communities.
