Good Shepherd is seeking a Music Director who will continue our well-developed music program. The Music Director will collaborate with the Pastor(s) and our Worship and Music Team to lead the worship service and the music They will also coordinate with other staff and volunteers.
This is a year-round salaried position, based on approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, primarily from mid-August to mid-June. The work hours and time are determined by the duties, responsibili8es and program needs outlined be
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Pastor(s) and Worship and Music Team to plan worship
Oversee and schedule all choral, vocal, and instrumental music for worship Recruit vocalists and instrumentalists for worship as necessary.
Collaborate with the organist/pianist to rehearse Good Shepherd’s
Conduct choirs at scheduled worship services from September through Mid-June. We currently have an Adult Choir and a Bell Choir but hope to re-establish our Children and Youth
Grow the musical program at Good
Serve on the Worship and Music Team
Participate in regularly scheduled staff
Be responsible for repor8ng music usage to licensing agencies including OneLicense and CCLI/Song
Arrange for the purchase of all printed musical arrangements within budget Maintain an organized music library.
Participate in musical conferences, workshops, or other continuing education, either in person or on- line, once a year, subject to funds in the budget and approval of the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
Live a life of faith and demonstrate the spirit of Jesus Christ through words and actions
Possess a bachelor’s degree in music or have equivalent musical and choral directing experience.
Possess the ability to collaborate with clergy, staff members, congrega8onal leaders, and volunteers
Be proficient in directing musical groups of all ages; choral, bell and instrumental.
Possess the interpersonal skills necessary to recruit and motivate new choir
Have experience using different music genres in worship, consistent with the liturgical year.
Have strong organizational skills
Be familiar with MicroSoft Office 365, including Teams and SharePoint, or be willing to Be familiar with ELCA Sundays and Seasons, OneLicense and CCLI/Song Select, or be willing to learn.
Have knowledge of current copyright law as pertains to both in person worship services and streamed worship services or be willing to Adhere to all licensing agreements and copyright law.
The ability to occasionally accompany the choir during rehearsal is a plus
Experience with virtual musical ensembles is a plus
Criminal background and child abuse clearances are required
