RME2 – Rostered Ministers Equipping Event 2020

November 17-19, 2020

Finding Our Way Through: Cultivating Communities of Hope in Uncertain Times

Amidst the upheavals of the pandemic, social unrest, and political tribalization, how might we lead God’s people through a changed landscape? What practices might sustain God’s people and us as leaders amidst loss, ambiguity and opportunity? This rostered leaders event will include spiritual practices, time for reflection and connection with colleagues, and conversation with Dwight Zscheile, VP of Innovation and Associate Professor of Congregational Mission and Leadership at Luther Seminary.

An Invitation From Bishop Davenport

Greetings, Beloved!

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns. The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:1-7

Grace, peace, power and love in the name of the One who can do all things but fail, Jesus Christ!  My siblings in Christ and partners in ministry, we are living in challenging times; however, we are resilient and will press through the days ahead in faith.  Together, we will live into our mantra: “We can do more together that we can alone.”

Please join me, your  colleagues, friends, and ministry partners, as we walk with Rev. Dwight Zscheile, Ph.D. author of The Agile Church: Spirit-Led Innovation in an Uncertain Age that many of us have had the pleasure of reading.  We will have an opportunity to witness how Dwight’s experience growing up in a secular home in California has shaped his commitment to helping the church cultivate Christian community with new populations and generations in today’s changing world.  We too will have an opportunity to open our hearts and minds to a mighty move of the Spirit in new ways.  Together, we will lean into sacred cyber space for worship, fellowship, and self-care all while adding tools to our ministry kit to maneuver in these changing and challenging times with grace and confidence.

I look forward to gathering with you all to do this life-giving and kin-dom building work with and for each other, to enable us to better serve in the communities where we are planted to grow.

Peace and blessings,

Bishop Patricia A. Davenport
