City: Emmaus, PA
Position: Full-time with benefits

Position available: April 2024
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Job Compensation: Commensurate with experience within range of $50,000-$62,000

As Director of Music, the successful candidate shall support this mission across the following functions:
● Shows competency in choral directing for various age groups
● Knows how to interpret music (expressive elements, terminology, etc.)
● Knows how to efficiently run a rehearsal
● Has knowledge of the voice
● Chooses music that will coincide with the gospel readings and / or season of the church year
● Rehearses, schedules and directs choirs for all styles of worship (contemporary, blended, traditional)
● Encourages participation of all people to participate during worship services
● Creates smaller ensembles such as duets, trios, quartets, small groups for times when no full choir is available or needed.
● Uses available vocal resources (soloists)

● Shows competency in both piano and organ
● Provides music for Sunday and other scheduled services
● Works with instrumentalists to enhance / provide for various services when appropriate
● Has knowledge of handbells
● Works with bell choir(s)

● Provides music for all worship services including Christmas, Easter, evening services, Rejoicing Spirit services, festival services
● Consults with guest musicians to assure appropriateness of music being performed
● Consults with pastors to develop plans for special and regular worship services
● Schedules substitutes for worship services as needed
● Organizes and maintains the music library
● Arranges for maintenance of all instruments

● Minimum requirement: bachelor’s degree of music; Master of Music preferred
● Experience in liturgical worship and open to new and changing styles
● Demonstrates flexibility in working with others

• Ensures musical leadership and accompaniment are provided for all worship services (including weddings and funerals) and other special events.
• Recognizes, encourages, and supports congregation members to enable them to develop and share their abilities in the worship and music life of the congregation.
• Recruits, trains, equips, and plans for all musical ensembles (vocal choirs, soloists, handbell choirs, bands, instrumentalists, children’s groups) to provide an excellent music program for worship year-round.
• Works with the technology team to ensure that music for live-streamed services and other virtual ministry events happens with good sound quality.
• Participates in meetings of the Worship Mission Team to ensure that music is seamlessly integrated into the overall worship planning.
• Collaborates with the church staff in all liturgy planning for both weekly worship and seasonal programs/liturgies.
• Educates the congregation to foster a deeper understanding of worship and music, including the introduction of creative liturgies, new hymns, different musical styles, etc.

● Works closely with the pastors, staff, worship mission team
● Assists in carrying out decisions regarding worship and musical life of the congregation
● Provides office coordinator with weekly information for Worship Bulletin(s)
● Oversees maintenance of organ, pianos and all other musical instruments and equipment
● Arranges for substitute musicians as needed when away (vacation)
● Communicates with technical support team regarding AV/tech requirements (for each service)
● Arranges necessary copyright licenses/permissions for use/streaming of music

• Provides music for the Vacation Bible School program and the Nursery School.
• Plans and participates in special musical services and events as part of the LCHS Concert Series, including scheduling events, recruiting musicians, etc.
• Provides accompaniment and other musical support for occasional worship led by the pastors in local community agencies/institutions/events.
• Participates in community, mission district, and synod worship and musical events.
