Job Description

Luther Crest, A Diakon Lutheran Senior Living Community — Located in Allentown with easy access to Route  78, Route  22 and Route 476. Luther Crest is a large Continuing Care Retirement Community with a 5-star rated skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, along with a personal care community. Luther Crest is seeking skilled and caring individuals to be part of Diakon’s Many Hands. One Heart. team, who recently celebrated 150 years of service. General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing spiritual leadership and spiritual services to residents, families, and staff.
  • Visits all nursing care and personal care/assisted living residents upon admission/ move-in and at least quarterly.
  • Maintain notes for each visit on the chart of each resident in the nursing care center and personal care/assisted living.
  • Provides and/or coordinates worship opportunities for residents, e.g., weekly and special worship services, Bible studies, communion (group or private), bedside prayer.
  • Education/Training: Rostered within the ELCA or denomination with whom ELCA has full communion partnership. Certified by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) preferred. Certification by APC obtained within three years of employment required.


Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ pastoral experience normally required.


ADA: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, reach, and lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.; visual and auditory skills.
