SUMMARY:SEPA Transitions: Information Session July 14 at 7PM
DESCRIPTION:At assembly\, the Transitional Ministry Development Team (TMDT) presented our new process for pastoral leadership transitions. You can watch the video of the speech HERE. We will work with congregations to craft an individualized transition plan. What from the congregation’s mission and history and expectations needs to be viewed through a framework of respect\, release\, or reimagine? What reflections and actions might best prepare the congregation to call their next pastor to help the church continue to live out God’s call? As part of that work\, each congregation in transition will pick one of three paths to guide this leadership transition: choose transformation\, choose partnership\, or choose resurrection. To learn more about these paths or the Ponder Anew transition process\, join us for an informational session. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:SEPA Synod Fall Learning Day “Who Is Our Neighbor?”
DESCRIPTION:SEPA Synod Fall Learning Day\n“Who Is Our Neighbor?”\nSaturday\, October 18\, 2025\n8:30 am to 12:15 pm \nSt. John Lutheran Church\, 3101 Tyson Ave.\, Philadelphia\, PA 19149 \nThis free\, informative and interactive day of learning is for everyone in SEPA Synod. This learning day is sponsored by Love Revolution. If your congregation has been thinking about whether to join the Love Revolution\, come experience this day of learning. Invite your friends and neighbors.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKeynote Speaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Rev. Emily Harkins. \nEmily Harkins was ordained as a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in May of 2020 and serves as the Lead Pastor and Founding Developer of this new community of faith\, The Dwelling\, in Winston-Salem\, NC. \nShe is passionate about faith\, service\, relationship-building\, learning\, and love. She thrives on kindness\, travel\, advocacy and justice\, hard work\, community organizing\, creative and effective communication\, organizational systems\, fun stationary\, and Diet Coke. \nIn a world that constantly tells people who are living on the margins that they don’t belong\, The Dwelling is a church that tells them that the world has it all wrong. \nThe Dwelling proclaims boldly that there is holiness in the identity as someone experiencing homelessness\, that they share a kinship with God who reminds us all that we are all wanderers in search of belonging.  It reflects the radical counter-cultural nature of the cross – where shame is glory and identity in Christ replaces the damaging narrative that the world so easily affixes to people in the margins. \nEmily made a keynote presentation at the 2024 ELCA Youth Gathering\, in which she emphasized the importance of seeing the fullness of each other in the way that God sees our full selves. “To be seen is to know that the full you—the shiny you\, the messy you\, the confused you\, the strong you\, the awkward you\, the everything you—is so deeply and so wildly loved\, and so deeply and wildly enough\,” she said. “You were created from love\, for love and to love. And to love you is to see you.” \nEmily will also lead a one-hour workshop on “Serving all People in the Name of Jesus.” \n  \nWorkshop Presenter\n\n\n\nMs. Julia Frank  \nDirector of Community Outreach\, Liberty Lutheran and Lutheran Congregational Services \n  \nAs Director of Community Outreach\, Julia collaborates with the Northeastern and Southeastern Pennsylvania Synods of the ELCA\, Lutheran congregations\, and other faith based and secular partners for not only programs like Lutheran Disaster Response\, bereavement counseling and other church programming\, offered by Lutheran Congregational Services\, but also to help connect those partners with opportunities at Liberty’s other communities and services. \nJulia will be leading an hour-long workshop on “Striving for Justice and Peace” which will include practical\, hands-on opportunities for congregations to get involved in justice work. \n  \nWorship Leader\n \nThe Rev. Linda Manson \nSEPA Synod Director for Evangelical Mission and Assistant to the Bishop for Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion \n  \nPastor Manson began serving in this capacity in March 2025 returning to her home synod. In this position Pastor Manson serves as a resource for all congregations seeking to be more connected to their communities through new and innovative ministry strategies. Also\, Pastor Manson works directly with several of the synod teams and deans to coordinate the vitality\, evangelism\, congregational renewal and diversity initiatives of the Southeastern PA Synod. \nPastor Manson brings her passion for connecting church and community to her new role in the Southeastern PA Synod. She looks forward to finding and developing ways for this synod to be a source of hope and light for the communities we serve\, as well as continuing to serve our larger church body \n  \nSchedule for the Day\n8:30 am           Registration with Coffee \n9:00 am           Worship \n10:00 am         Keynote: Who is Our Neighbor? \n11:00 am         Break \n11:15 am         Workshops \nWorkshop 1                                                      \nServing All People in the Name of Jesus \nWorkshop 2 \nStriving for Justice and Peace

Drawing on Generosity Stewardship and Abundance by Lovett Weems and Ann Michel and Giving to God by Mark Allan Powell\, she will outline a roadmap that moves from awakening God’s abundance\, to teaching and practicing stewardship\, to cultivating a culture of giving that leads to vitality. At its heart\, generosity is worship—an act of gratitude and discipleship that strengthens mission\, builds trust\, and nurtures joy. Participants will leave with practical steps for leading faithfully\, teaching consistently and celebrating generosity as the pathway to thriving\, mission-oriented congregations. \nRev. Dr. Andrea Walker\, \nWorkshop Time 2\, 3 \n  \nThis workshop will help leaders and congregations reframe financial giving and stewardship as acts of worship\, gratitude and discipleship rather than obligation or institutional maintenance. Annemarie Hartner Cook \nWorkshop Time 1\, 3 \nIn the work of the Faith Alive Initiative\, we are striving to help congregations fully welcome children into their worship each and every time they gather. This includes teaching generosity practices and modeling authentic ways of giving. \n  \nWe will explore books\, curriculum\, and resources that can help encourage generosity in children. We will also discuss the various ways children can participate in worship that encourages their own stewardship.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Landscape Of Religious Giving: Trends And Best Practices For Meaningful Engagement \nRev. SUMMARY:Tuscarora Lutheran Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Grades 6-12 \nTuscarora Lutheran Youth Retreat (formerly know as Harvey Cedars) is a weekend retreat for 6th – 12th grade youth and their leaders. This retreat fosters relationships between youth of different churches to unify the Lutheran churches and youth of the South Eastern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA. This retreat is also unique in the fact that it is run by the pastors and leaders of our youth groups so we depend on our adult leaders who attend with their youth to help make this retreat possible. We ask our adult leaders to be a part of small groups either through teaching\, assistant teaching\, or being an extra pair of hands in the classroom. \nDownload 2026 Flyer: Tuscarora Retreat Flyer 2026 \n  \n  \n
