Qualifications
• Must be 18 years of age and High School Graduate or GED to apply.
• Demonstrated Custodial experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures and cleaning techniques.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitively, to work at heights above 4’ on ladders, to walk and stand for long periods of time, to bend, twist, crawl, squat and climb, to work in all types of weather.
• Strong communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to adjust schedule to suit the needs of the church.
• Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.
• Must pass background checks as performed by LCHC

RESPONSIBILITIES
Custodial Tasks

  • Clean church buildings and grounds by performing daily and weekly tasks per church maintenance schedule created by property chair and facilities director.
  • Respond to the unexpected (i.e. spills, breaks, etc.) and perform spot cleaning in all public areas of the building as needed, including bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchens, and meeting rooms.
  • Perform walk through of property during every shift and address any items that are observed or reported including but not limited to emptying trash and replenishing paper supplies.
  • Work with other church staff to resolve maintenance issues and accommodate special church services or event related tasks.
  • Observe proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents, including wearing gloves, goggles, or masks and following written or verbal instructions.
  • Complete scheduled set ups/tear downs for meetings/events in a timely manner and with attention to detail.
  • Track inventory of cleaning and bathroom supplies and other maintenance related items. Submit requests when items need to be replenished.
  • Interact with church staff, members and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.
  • Collaborate/communicate with event coordinator(s) for additional set-up needs
  • All other job related duties as assigned.

Maintenance Tasks

Perform regular light maintenance duties as needed including but not limited to:

  • Change light bulbs
  • Paint and/or touch up areas as needed
  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Basic key and lock replacement
  • Snow removal and ensuring that walkways and entrances are free of ice and safe for use

All other job related duties as assigned.
