Children and Youth Music Coordinator

Objective: To glorify God and support the ministry and worship life of Upper Dublin Lutheran Church. To direct the children and youth choirs and expose children and families to church music in such a manner that inspires church members and encourages people to participate in the music program.

Requirements:

  • Excellent playing and directing skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate well with pastors, staff, and other music ministry leaders
  • Previous experience leading children’s music ministry is a requirement
  • Ability to plan creative and meaningful experiences within the context of the liturgy
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

 

Responsibilities:

Lead and grow children and youth music ministry programs, including but not limited to:

  • Grace Notes currently for children aged 3, 4, and 5-year-olds who are not yet in Kindergarten. It is an experiential group, singing, and playing melody bells. Rehearses Tuesday evenings, 6:00 – 6:30 PM
  • Joyful Voices of Praise, currently a choral group for children in grades 1-7.  Rehearsals currently on Sundays at 10:00 AM. We would like this to be two different groups divided by appropriate age ranges.
  • Joyful Chimers for children in Grades 2-6.  Currently rehearses on Tuesdays, 6:45-7:15 PM.
  • Youth Choir (in collaboration with band member Andrew McMaster) and Scola Sopranos young women’s vocal group
  • Coordinate special music on Easter and Christmas
  • Lead children’s musical theatre productions
  • Incorporate music into Sunday School program
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate

 

Time Commitment:

  • 10 Hours a Week including Sunday group rehearsals and planning time
