Welcome Church remembers winter’s victims

This winter has been especially difficult for anyone experiencing homelessness. The Welcome Church, our outreach to persons living on the streets in Center City, knows of at least two persons who froze to death during the blizzards.

"LC-HC-map"On Tuesday, March 16, at noon, you are invited to join The Welcome Church for a service of remembrance and thanksgiving for the lives of Maria Rodriguez and Bruce Harris and anyone else who lost their lives on the street this past winter.

The service will begin at noon outside on the VanPelt entrance to The Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion at 2110 Chestnut Street (host to The Welcome Center), and participants will process together into the sanctuary. The Welcome Center, a drop-in respite for persons experiencing homelessness, will be open at 1 p.m. following the service. Pastor Violet Little of the Welcome Church and Pastor Kari Hart and Stephen Keiser of Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion will be officiating at the service.

If you are not able to attend, please keep the community and persons experiencing homelessness in prayer at that hour.
